In 1988 the Dornoch Focus Group was formed, comprising representatives of local business and public agencies. Its mission is to work with the various groups in the community to develop strategies for the promotion and future development of the Royal Burgh.
The establishment of this web site and the re-introduction of traditional street fairs are examples of marketing initiatives undertaken. Sub-committees include 'Dornoch Flowers & Fairs,' which organises Dornoch in Bloom and the various street fairs, 'DAPPA,' which raises funding for local play parks, and the Dornoch Tourist Association, whose mission is to further promote Dornoch's advantages as a tourist destination.
The Dornoch Focus Group was a founder member of 'Small Towns Network Limited,' an umbrella organisation comprising the various town initiatives around the Moray Firth.
In 2007, the Focus Group was disbanded and re-formed as The Dornoch Area Community Interest Company, a company limited by guarantee with the mission to work for the social, cultural and economic improvement of the 'IV25' postcode area.
