For a small community, Dornoch is fortunate in having one of the finest grass airstrips in Scotland.
Aero and microlight clubs regularly use the strip as a venue for competition stages and the facility is appreciated by golfers with a tight European itinerary.
The field is operated by Highland Council's 'Transport, Environment & Community Services' department. Light aircraft are accepted by arrangement, at the pilot's own risk.
Prospective visitors should telephone the Highland Council's TEC Services department in Brora during office hours; these offices can also supply details of landing charges.
There is a telephone available at the airstrip but no radio service.
Current landing charges for private light aircraft are £5.60 for the first 500kg, then £7.70 for each additional 500kg up to a maximun of £16.50 for a 3 tonne aircraft.
