Walking

Dornoch is an ideal centre for a walking holiday in the Sutherland hills. Closer to home, a range of marked walks is available to suit all tastes. Whether you are looking for a three mile coastal walk along the disused railway between Dornoch and Embo, a three mile Forest Walk in Skelbo Wood with the children (including Sculptured Animal Trail), or more vigorous exercise on the Trim Trail in Camore Wood, we have something to suit. For exploring Dornoch itself, see the Heritage Walk.

The Sutherland Walkers' Group meets on the fourth Sunday of every month and, depending upon the walk's location, bus pick-ups are usually made at Tain, Evelix, The Mound, Golspie and Lairg. The Group, which has now over 40 members, usually offers two grades of walks (typically, 10 miles) at each of its meetings in order to cater for the needs of most walkers and their fitness levels.
The Group welcomes both regular and occasional walkers, with a special warm welcome to visitors to the area. Walking is a great way to make new friends.
For further information, please contact either Ian Greenhouse (01549 402524) or Malcolm Hayes (077327 45654), or email: gillian.morris3@tesco.net
